Fipka ONN Google TV 4K Pro Streaming Device New 2024

Features

In 2024, Walmart’s ONN brand, often rebranded as Fipka in select markets, introduced a powerful contender in the budget streaming device segment: the Fipka ONN Google TV 4K Pro. This device offers an impressive array of features at a very accessible price point—around $50. Targeting users who demand both affordability and performance, it competes directly with popular options like Google Chromecast with Google TV, Roku Ultra, and Amazon Fire TV Cube. Despite its budget-friendly nature, the 4K Pro delivers on most fronts, from 4K streaming and Dolby support to hands-free Google Assistant integration.

Sleek Design and Practical Build

The ONN 4K Pro arrives in a compact, matte-black design that is subtle and unassuming—ideal for minimalist entertainment setups. It resembles a small smart speaker more than a traditional streaming box, with a clean surface that houses multiple microphones for voice control and a small integrated speaker. On the back, users will find a full-sized HDMI port, a 10/100 Ethernet jack for wired internet, a USB 3.0 Type-A port for expanded connectivity, and a barrel connector for power. There’s also a handy reset button and a remote-finder button, which proves incredibly helpful in busy households.

Strong Internals and Ample Storage

Under the hood, the ONN 4K Pro is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor and a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. These specs offer a notable performance boost over its predecessor. Backed by 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, the device provides a fluid experience with room for multiple apps, games, or sideloaded media. After the initial setup and system use, users can expect around 23 GB of usable space, which is a major advantage over streaming sticks that typically offer 8 GB or less.

Brilliant Visuals and Immersive Audio

As the name suggests, the ONN 4K Pro supports 4K UHD resolution. It also brings in support for various high-dynamic-range (HDR) standards, including HDR10 and Dolby Vision. These features ensure crisp visuals, accurate color representation, and a generally enjoyable viewing experience across compatible content. Additionally, audio performance is enhanced with support for Dolby Atmos, delivering immersive, multi-dimensional sound when paired with capable speakers or sound systems. Whether you’re streaming blockbuster movies or high-quality music videos, the device holds up surprisingly well.

Advanced Connectivity Options

One of the standout features of the Fipka ONN 4K Pro is its variety of connectivity options. For users who prefer wired connections, the Ethernet port supports 10/100 Mbps speeds, ensuring stable performance for high-bitrate 4K streaming. For wireless users, the device includes Wi-Fi 6 support, operating over both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, which means faster and more reliable wireless internet. Perhaps most exciting is the USB 3.0 port, which allows for external storage devices, gamepads, or media playback tools to be connected. This makes it a particularly versatile device for power users and tinkerers.

User Interface and Software Experience

The ONN 4K Pro runs on Google TV, a user-friendly and content-focused interface built on top of Android TV. Google TV aggregates content from across your streaming services into a single interface, making it easier to find and continue watching what you love. Performance is smooth for most tasks, including browsing menus, installing apps, and watching 4K content. Google Assistant is built-in and functions well for voice queries and smart home controls. Chromecast functionality is also baked in, allowing users to cast content from their mobile devices or Chrome browser directly to the TV.

Real-World Performance and User Feedback

User feedback across platforms like Reddit and tech forums has been generally positive. Many users report stable 4K playback on major apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Max, and YouTube. The added RAM and storage are frequently cited as game-changers in this price range. Compared to other budget devices, it holds up well, often outperforming the Chromecast with Google TV, especially in multitasking and storage capacity. However, some users have noted occasional bugs, such as video stuttering or the need to power-cycle the unit after long sessions. While these issues aren’t widespread, they suggest that occasional firmware updates could help further refine the experience.

Remote Control with Smart Features

The ONN 4K Pro comes with a thoughtfully designed remote control. It includes dedicated buttons for popular apps like Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, and Paramount+, as well as a “Magic” button that users can program for custom actions. A built-in remote-finder feature—activated via a button on the main unit—helps locate misplaced remotes. The remote is also backlit, making it easy to use in dark rooms. Furthermore, the device supports hands-free Google Assistant. Users can interact with the system just by speaking commands, such as launching apps, playing media, or checking the weather, without touching the remote.

Competitive Comparison

When compared to competitors, the ONN 4K Pro stands out for its price-to-performance ratio. The Chromecast with Google TV, for instance, offers a comparable interface but only 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. The Amazon Fire TV Cube provides similar voice assistant integration, but users locked into the Google ecosystem may prefer the ONN device’s more Android-native feel. Even higher-end streamers like the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro are significantly more expensive and, while more powerful, may be overkill for average users. The ONN 4K Pro fills a sweet spot for those wanting premium features without the premium price.

Who Should Buy It?

This streaming device is perfect for users who want robust streaming capabilities without breaking the bank. It’s especially ideal for those with slower TVs or older smart TV systems that have become sluggish over time. Cord-cutters who value Google Assistant integration, USB expandability, and Ethernet stability will find this device hard to beat in its price range. It’s also great for users interested in sideloading apps, retro gaming emulators, or using third-party launchers to customize their interface further. While it might not satisfy power users looking for ultra-fast performance or 100% app certification (like Vudu UHD), it will be more than enough for the average user.

Tips for Optimization

To get the most out of the Fipka ONN 4K Pro, users can consider a few optimizations. Installing a third-party launcher like Project Ivy or TVLauncher 3 can significantly speed up the UI and remove unwanted clutter. The USB 3.0 port can be used for flash drives or hard drives to store media or game ROMs. If occasional performance hiccups occur, clearing the cache or performing a full power cycle often resolves them. Additionally, ensuring that apps are updated and minimizing background processes can help maintain snappy performance over time.

The Fipka ONN Google TV 4K Pro Streaming Device (2024) is a well-rounded and affordable streaming solution for modern households. It punches well above its weight class in terms of features and usability. With support for 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos, hands-free Google Assistant, and physical connectivity options like Ethernet and USB, it offers versatility rarely seen in this price bracket. While it’s not entirely free from minor bugs or quirks, its strong performance, rich feature set, and affordability make it one of the best streaming values currently available. For anyone seeking a capable and future-ready streaming box without the high cost, this device is absolutely worth considering.
